This community is in the Capachica peninsula, at 69km on the North-West of Puno, at 2h by bus (colectivo). Ccotos community has a range of islands (Tikonata, Uki, Lagarto and Cayen). Warm accomodations belong to this community, with view on the majestic Titicaca Lake. Host families provide food for visitors.

Ccotos community has attractive assets for visitors: natural watch towers can be reached by walk paths to take advantage of the wonderful views on Titicaca Lake and its islands, like Tikonata, Uki or Lagarto Island (which can also welcome travelers). There are also two sand beaches to relax, a museum, premises with weaving loom, fabrics and typical clothes. You can also participate to a boat trip or fishing with the inhabitants. Travelers will also admire the archeological remains and some ruins of old houses.

Touristic offers

Rural guest house
Visitors will stay in beautiful traditional rustic rooms, which are made with pisé and with authentic decoration. Huts are next to the host families, with view to natural and cultivated areas, at a few meters from Titicaca Lake. Ccotos community allows 7 rooms, single or double (one bed or two single), with a total capacity of 13 people. Sanitary fittings are to be shared, and are situated next to the rooms. In houses where there is no shower, visitors can ask to the hosts to warm them water to wash themselves.

Typical food

Travelers will eat typical dishes from the region in rural restaurants of some families, which were built and decorated by the inhabitants with materials from the region. Host families cook foodstuffs with products they cultivated and harvested on their land, or fish they have caught in Titicaca Lake.

Access

Access from Puno:

In Puno you can find a bus stop at street Jirón Lampa, next to Bellavista market. The journey lasts around 1h30.

From Capachica (capital):

To reach Ccotos, take a mototaxi or a taxi. The journey lasts around 20 min. Please contact us before you come, ASTURS also gives information to its office at Plaza Principal Jirón Juliaca, N°229 – Capachica.

From Juliaca:

In Juliaca, you can take a bus to the bus terminal which is situated between Avenue Tacna and Avenue Circunvalación. The journey lasts around one hour.  From Capachica, take a mototaxi or a taxi to reach Ccotos. The journey lasts around 20 min.
